The Three Gunas
— three forces alive within you.
Every emotion, thought, and choice arises from the interplay of three inner energies. Understand them, and you understand the mechanics of your suffering — and of your peace.
The dance within
You are not a fixed self.
You are a moving balance.
These three energies rise and fall in each of us throughout the day, week, and season of life. The goal isn't to eliminate any of them — it's to bring them into conscious relationship, so Sattva (peace) can become your center of gravity.
This work isn't theory. It's a lived practice of noticing, releasing, and choosing again — until alignment stops being an event, and becomes a way of being.
The three energies
Meet each force — and how to shift it.
Tamas
Heaviness · Stagnation
The weight of what feels stuck — fatigue, disconnection, unresolved pain. When Tamas dominates, we feel foggy, uninspired, and heavy in body and spirit.
- ·You sleep, but never wake rested
- ·The couch feels like gravity
- ·Numbness where feeling used to be
Rajas
Restlessness · Fire
Overthinking, anxiety, emotional reactivity — the mind that never quiets. Rajas is the racing energy that drives us but also depletes us when unchecked.
- ·A running list in your head at 3am
- ·Small things spark big reactions
- ·You can't rest without guilt
Sattva
Peace · Clarity
Balance, alignment, and the quiet knowing that you are exactly where you belong. Sattva is home — the state we return to as we release what no longer serves.
- ·Present, not braced
- ·Steady inner ground under change
- ·Choices feel like remembering, not deciding
Practices we draw from
Wisdom, meet nervous system.
The Three Gunas is the map. These are the vehicles we use to actually move along it.
Inner Child Therapy Practice
Reach the parts of you that stopped growing when the pain arrived — and let them finish the story they never got to finish.
Guided Meditation
Quiet the mental noise using breath and awareness practices tailored to your nervous system, not a template.
Reiki & Energy Healing
Gentle, subtle work that clears stuck energy from the body and restores flow — often felt as immediate lightness.
Somatic Awareness
Move from thinking about your feelings to actually meeting them where they live — in the body.
Sound Healing
Vibration and tone that bypass the analytical mind and reach the layers of self that words cannot.
Vedic Wisdom Frameworks
The Three Gunas and related teachings, offered as maps — never dogma — for understanding your inner terrain.
